2 Corinthians 2:14 Easy-to-Read Version
But thanks be to God, who always leads us in victory through Christ. God uses us to spread his knowledge everywhere like a sweet-smelling perfume.
Psalm 16:11 Easy-to-Read Version
You will teach me the right way to live.
Just being with you will bring complete happiness.
Being at your right side will make me happy forever.
Psalm 84:5-7 The Message
And how blessed all those in whom you live,
whose lives become roads you travel;
They wind through lonesome valleys, come upon brooks,
discover cool springs and pools brimming with rain!
God-traveled, these roads curve up the mountain, and
at the last turn—Zion! God in full view!
Dear Lord, You know I have had the most wonderful experiences traveling through your Magnificent Creation, the Earth. Oh the sights I’ve seen. I have marveled as I sailed over the Li River and witnessed the incomparable mountains; been baptized by the watery mist that trickled down the cliffs at Zion National Park in Utah, the mist that had traveled through from the days Jesus walked the Earth; was mesmerized by the immensity of the Grand Canyon; watched in amazement as the water was sucked in then burst forth with great force from the Spouting Horn Blowhole by the shores of Kauai, Hawaii.
My travels through England and Scotland provided many opportunities; The countryside of England offered miles of winding single lane roads lined with pastures of cows calmly wagging their tails and chewing their cud; Scotland’s sheep refused to give up the right-of-way; we waited patiently; hiking into the heather mist of Scotland’s Moor’s transformed my feelings about travel, as the older folk in our group didn’t have the ability to hike with us, and remained on a bench to wait until our return; they all said they wished they could have walked along beside us.
My parents valued travel; part of their gift to their three girls was to travel cross-country by car; from South Carolina, it was indeed a long journey in the sixties with roll down windows in cars with no air-conditioning. They also made sure we saw the states along the east coast all the way to Maine.
In 2001 my husband and I drove across the United States and with the eyes of an adult, I revisited many of the same sights I had seen in the sixties. What a gift, Lord, to watch the lay of the land as it changed mile after mile. The beauty and variety of flora and fauna dazzled me.
In retirement I had plans to travel, travel, travel. Life had other plans. My father, mother, and fifty-eight year old baby sister contracted cancer; care, worry, and grief overwhelmed me; my time was not my own; however, no place would I have rather been than by their side helping in some small way their passing from this world into Yours. Heavenly Father, I prayed for their healing, but it wasn’t in Your plan. I miss them dearly, but I know You have their hearts, and souls, tenderly wrapped in your arms. Thank You, and Bless You.
Now, Father, bless me with many more opportunities to see, hear, and touch, the beauty and grandeur of Your Creation. Grant me the time, the energy, the good health, and the means to explore and truly appreciate all of Your Grand Design.
I ask this not out of greed, but out of love and appreciation for all that You provided and shared that ALL of mankind could know more about You, Your Character, Your Omniscience, Omnipresence, and Omnipotence.
Thank You, Father, Daddy, Papa, for listening to my request. Bless me with the courage to see and do. I promise to let my light shine wherever I roam.
I promise to share my love for You; I promise to care for others I encounter; I promise to listen to other’s stories; I promise.
