Breathe we do it without thinking breathe inhale exhale the pattern that is life breathe the process of respiration produces energy by taking in oxygen and expelling carbon dioxide breathe we were never taught never instructed never practiced we just do it breathe sometimes when I think too much I can get out of rhythm the pattern is broken and I forget how to breathe sometimes when I am tense or bothered or wired or angry I don’t breathe my body cries out for release if I’d let go and breathe I’d feel relaxed refreshed and at peace breathe Lord You gave me life in my very first intake of air breathe You blessed me and continue to bless me greatly breathe
Reading and writing uses pauses and stops through punctuation. Without these markings, meaning gets lost in the multitude of words. To take in and release life-giving air gives me pause. Taking deep breaths helps me stop, take in the moment, appreciate all You gave me through this gift of life, and release a grateful Amen.
