Abundant Grace

Livin’ in the Rhythm of Grace

Writers: Larry Gatlin and William J. Gaither

2 Corinthians 12:9 The Living Bible

Each time he said, “No. But I am with you; that is all you need.

My power shows up best in weak people.”

Now I am glad to boast about how weak I am;

I am glad to be a living demonstration of Christ’s power,

instead of showing off my own power and abilities.

“What gives me the most hope every day is God’s grace; knowing that his grace is going to give me the strength for whatever I face, knowing that nothing is a surprise to God.” Rick Warren

“Grace is the free, undeserved goodness and favor of God to mankind.”  Matthew Henry

It’s hard to describe the freedom; to let the past hurt, pain, anger, and resentments, simply disappear seemed too good to be true. It was much more comfortable to live wrapped in my shawl of doom and gloom. I expected nothing more from life than what I had experienced over and over again. No amount of effort on my part seemed to change my past or affect my future. I was where I deserved to be.

God had other plans.

I look back and see the ways God tried to get my attention. I was a slow learner. If it had been up to me there’s no telling where my actions would have taken me and what joys I would never have experienced.

God had other plans.

There are no reasons; there are no answers; there are no rules; there are no laws; there are no steps; there are no sequences; there are no procedures; there are no formulas; there are no requests; there are no demands; there is only LOVE.

God had His plan.

Jesus, the Son of God, came to earth to teach us how to live. God knew our human hearts; frail and imperfect, we struggle. Life lived on our terms gets messy and complicated. God sent Jesus to live and die for us. God’s Son freely took on all the guilt, shame, pain, sorrow, and punishment that should have been ours. He set us free. We did nothing to deserve or earn this gift of grace.

God’s plan is easy. God’s plan has no strings attached. God’s plan promises joy, love, peace, acceptance, forgiveness, and new life.

Thank You, Lord, for Your offer of Grace. May I accept this gift and pass it on to others … no strings attached.  Amen
