Love is a Verb

Love is a verb, love is doing, showing, saying. Never think just saying you love someone is enough.  Unknown

1 John 4:19 Easy-to-Read Version

We love because God first loved us.

1 Corinthians 13:4-7 Easy-to-Read Version

Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous, it does not brag, and it is not proud.

Love is not rude, it is not selfish, and it cannot be made angry easily.

Love does not remember wrongs done against it.

Love is never happy when others do wrong, but it is always happy with the truth.

Love never gives up on people. It never stops trusting, never loses hope, and never quits.

Love creates love. Love nurtures love. Love sustains love. Love comforts love. Love communicates love. Love produces love. Love attracts love. Love nourishes love. Love invites love. Love treasures love. Love fosters love. Love supports love. Love embraces love. Love protects love. Love trusts love. Love honors love.

God is Love. God creates, nurtures, sustains, comforts, communicates, produces, attracts, nourishes, invites, treasures, fosters, supports, embraces, protects, trusts, honors … and so much more.

I believe love to be complete, needs to be shared. It is a relationship that grows as it learns more and more about the other.

I don’t think one-sided love, love without reciprocation, unrequited love, can be sustained by mortals. I believe only God can truly withstand such treatment. He is not worthy of this neglect, and yet He continues to pour out His love selflessly.

It must be hard for God to love us so much and yet be treated with indifference, ignored, or denied.

Jesus came to show us how to live in love with each other. He taught us by example.

Dear Lord, forgive me when I take Your love for granted. I become involved in my day-to-day existence and forget to put You and our love relationship first. I apologize for hurting you this way. I am not worthy of Your patience and persistence. May I hold up my side of our relationship more consistently and actively.  Amen
