I’ve never watched so much of the Winter or Summer Olympics. I loved hearing the stories of determination through hardships, physical accidents, personal loss, and the highs and lows of competition. I watched as individual lives were on display for all to experience.
It was obvious how much work went into preparation for the event venues as well as the many years of preparation from the athletes.
Am I prepared to meet my maker face to face? Have I done all I can? Have I persevered through setbacks and heartaches? Have I struggled? Have I overcome? Have I dedicated my life?
Dear Lord, forgive my cavalier, offhand, attitude towards You and the relationship I profess that we have! Forgive my on again off again dedication to following You, the way-shower; forgive my sporadic, infrequent, hit-and-miss, and yes, casual approach.
You are the Way, the Truth, and the Life; You are Omnipotent, Omniscient, and Omnipresent; You are to be worshipped; You are to be honored; You are to be praised; You are to be thanked continuously!
May I make our time together a number one priority in my life. Amen
Isaiah 40:28-31 The Message
Why would you ever complain, O Jacob,
or, whine, Israel, saying,
“God has lost track of me.
He doesn’t care what happens to me”?
Don’t you know anything? Haven’t you been listening?
God doesn’t come and go. Godlasts.
He’s Creator of all you can see or imagine.
He doesn’t get tired out, doesn’t pause to catch his breath.
And he knows everything,inside and out.
He energizes those who get tired,
gives fresh strength to dropouts.
For even young people tire and drop out,
young folk in their prime stumble and fall.
But those who wait upon God get fresh strength.
They spread their wings and soar like eagles,
They run and don’t get tired,
they walk and don’t lag behind.
Micah 7:18-19 The Living Bible
Where is another God like you, who pardons the sins of the survivors among his people? You cannot stay angry with your people, for you love to be merciful. Once again you will have compassion on us. You will tread our sins beneath your feet; you will throw them into the depths of the ocean!
Immortal, Invisible, God Only Wise
Author: Walter C. Smith 1867
Immortal, invisible, God only wise,
in light inaccessible hid from our eyes,
most blessed, most glorious, the Ancient of Days,
Almighty, victorious, Thy great name we praise.
Unresting, unhasting, and silent as light,
nor wanting, nor wasting, Thou rulest in might;
Thy justice, like mountains, high soaring above
Thy clouds, which are fountains of goodness and love.
To all, life Thou givest, to both great and small,
in all life Thou livest, the true life of all;
we blossom and flourish as leaves on the tree,
and wither and perish, but naught changeth Thee.
Great Father of glory, pure Father of light,
Thine angels adore Thee, all veiling their sight;
all praise we would render, O help us to see
’tis only the splendor of light hideth Thee!
