As I understand fasting, it can be abstaining from anything: television, news, food, selective foods, or any other thing that might get in the way of communication with You, Father, or of following the paths You would have me take. I am struggling with my obsession with food to the point that it is surely heading towards affecting my health. I have done a bit of research and what I glean is fasting should start slowly. I like that idea. One day at a time I do believe I could accomplish fasting from sugar and chocolate.

I say this after I made chocolate chip muffins for breakfast this morning and will be going out to visit with a friend for lunch today. But, today might not be the day to start. I am going out-of-town for a few days and that would be a perfect time to try abstaining from sugar. If I know other foods will be allowed, I think I could give up the sugar and even the chocolate. It is worth a try.

Mark 9:23
And Jesus said to him, ” ‘If You can?’ All things are possible to him who believes.”

Mark 10:27
Looking at them, Jesus said, “With people it is impossible, but not with God; for all things are possible with God.”

Matthew 17:20
And He said to them, “Because of the littleness of your faith; for truly I say to you, if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible to you.”

Mark 11:24

“Therefore I say to you, all things for which you pray and ask, believe that you have received them, and they will be granted you.

Have Faith in God

Author: B. B. McKinney  1934

Have faith in God when you pathway is lonely
He sees and knows all the way you have trod
Never alone are the least of His children
Have faith in God, have faith in God

Chorus: Have faith in God, He’s on His throne
Have faith in God, He watches oer his own
He cannot fail, He must prevail
Have faith in God, have faith in God

Have faith in God when you pray’rs are unanswered
Your earnest plea He will never forget
Wait on the Lord, trust His Word and be patient
Have faith in God, He’ll answer yet

Have faith in God in your pain and your sorrow
His heart is touched with your grief and despair
Cast all your cares and your burdens upon Him
And leave them there, oh, leave them there

Have faith in God tho’ all else fail about you
Have faith in God He provides for His own
He cannot fail tho’ all kingdoms shall perish
He rules He reigns upon His throne
