Just Us Two … me and You

He watches me

from under, over, behind;

others do, too,

to his dismay.

I’m prepared, seed in hand, hidden in folds of my t-shirt,

still my heart, still my soul, still my thoughts,

stillness overtake me;

be still and quiet; else he’ll scamper away;

unfulfilled, unhappy, undone that our time

has been interrupted.

Joyfully he returns, trying again to connect,

to believe, trust, have faith that I’ll be there,

for him, with him.

It occurs to me my chipmunk pal,

freely chooses

to spend time with me;

so, too, do You.

You watch for me, hoping I’ll scamper by;

praying I’ll understand Your provisions

are already

prepared.

You wait with bated breath,

longing to give all that You have;

life, the breath of eternal life,

freely given, to such a one as me.

Joyful communion, precious time, uninterrupted,

just us two … me and You.

still my heart, still my soul, still my thoughts, stillness overtake me;

believe, trust, have faith our relationship, uniquely forged,

is for Him, is for me, to be together …

just us two … me and You.

Dear Heavenly Father, I understand stillness so much more, now that I wait with bated breath for Hoover, my chipmunk pal, to come to me, unafraid, unhurried, unforced. You long for me to come to You. I come. Thank You Lord, for Your patience. Thank You the invitation is always there, ready whenever, and wherever I am. Amen

Just as I am

Written by Charlotte Elliott in 1835

Just as I am, without one plea,
But that Thy blood was shed for me,
And that Thou bid’st me come to Thee,
O Lamb of God, I come! I come!

Just as I am, and waiting not
To rid my soul of one dark blot;
To Thee whose blood can cleanse each spot,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come!

Just as I am, though tossed about
With many a conflict, many a doubt;
Fightings within, and fears without,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come!

Just as I am, poor, wretched, blind;
Sight, riches, healing of the mind;
Yes, all I need, in Thee to find,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come!

Just as I am, Thou wilt receive,
Wilt welcome, pardon, cleanse, relieve;
Because Thy promise I believe,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come!

Just as I am, Thy love unknown
Has broken every barrier down;
Now, to be Thine, yea, Thine alone,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come!

Psalm 130:5-6  The Message
I pray to God—my life a prayer—
and wait for what he’ll say and do.
My life’s on the line before God, my Lord,
waiting and watching till morning,
waiting and watching till morning.

Scamper

run with quick light steps, especially through fear or excitement :  to run or move quickly and often playfully

  1. A beautiful story of trust. The chipmunk trusting you and you trusting that which you are. Each must give up the self to this trust and in doing so reap the rewards of this trusting . Thank you for sharing Jan.

  2. Each gives up the self to this trust … oh Golly, Mel … you see more into what I write than I do … thank you for taking the time to help me in so many ways. Thank you always, Mel, for who YOU are. jan
