Diamonds in the Sky …

The porch swing carried me back and forth,

back and forth.

Sipping my … oh …

maybe third

cup

of

coffee …

I looked up.

There above the roof

of the house next door,

my eyes dazzled by its beauty,

an old revered oak tree

caught the morning sun.

Water droplets from rain the night before

adorned leaves;

they danced in the wind

diamond bright.

You caught my attention.

You wanted to delight,

surprise,

greet me in a way only You, Lord,

can.

My smile broke forth

returning the joy.

It was a moment …

just the

two

of us.

Diamonds in the sky

catching my eye

taking me beyond now

beyond then

a passenger

traveling through Your imagination.

Returned,

refreshed,

renewed,

My day elevated by Your indisputable

presence.

Amen

A beautiful hymn I’ve always loved.

Open My Eyes, That I May See
Clara H. Scott  1895

Open my eyes, that I may see
Glimpses of truth Thou hast for me;
Place in my hands the wonderful key
That shall unclasp and set me free.

Silently now I wait for Thee,
Ready my God, Thy will to see,
Open my eyes, illumine me,
Spirit divine!

Open my ears, that I may hear
Voices of truth Thou sendest clear;
And while the wave notes fall on my ear,
Everything false will disappear.

Silently now I wait for Thee,
Ready my God, Thy will to see,
Open my ears, illumine me,
Spirit divine!

Open my mind, that I may read
More of Thy love in word and deed;
What shall I fear while yet Thou dost lead?
Only for light from Thee I plead.

Silently now I wait for Thee,
Ready my God, Thy will to see,
Open my mind, illumine me,
Spirit divine!

Open my mouth, and let me bear,
Gladly the warm truth everywhere;
Open my heart and let me prepare
Love with Thy children thus to share.

Silently now I wait for Thee,
Ready my God, Thy will to see,
Open my heart, illumine me,
Spirit divine!

Knock on the sky and listen to the sound. ~Zen Saying
