Now for my blog today.

I am an artist in many ways … no brag … just fact. My last eighteen years of my thirty-seven year teaching career, was to teach drama to grades five and six. I wrote, directed, costumed, designed staging and lighting, and all while keeping my students engaged and focused. No easy task. Point in fact … the young teacher hired to replace me couldn’t keep it together and was fired before Thanksgiving. It’s nice to be missed.

I love writing, gardening, reading, cooking, taking photos, traveling, singing, dancing, and designing whatever present project I have envisioned. One of the pluses of blogging is the ability to write about all that I am doing in one venue!

I also love sharing my belief, trust, faith, and reliance on God, the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Through it all, I am thankful for the many blessings I have received freely. God has shown me through my own musings how He has worked in my life for the GOOD. He wants what’s BEST for me, even when I am not aware of His divine intervention.

I find God most frequently in my garden. He sits there by my side toiling with me. It’s a snack, an easy task, as the Aussies say, to work with my Dear Lord as my partner! He teaches me how to create, what to weed out, what to encourage, what to keep, and what to leave to do “its own thang.”

As I sit after a period of back-breaking work, I drink cool water to quench my body, as God reveals our handiwork before me. He and I sit quietly observing the many birds that visit our feeder, our pet chipmunk, Hoover, who now eats out of my hand, Peter Rabbit, who is a sometime visitor, the McGillicuddy Clan of squirrels, one of which is now named Whitewall, my husband’s name for him, as he has solid white hind feet that go the length from his toes to his … uh … elbows? Not the proper term … but you get the idea. I take mental pictures of the natural beauty around me, in my own backyard. I take photos, though my phone camera doesn’t do it justice. I listen to the symphony of bird calls, chipmunk chirps, squirrel chatterings, and summer cricket dronings. Dronings isn’t quite the word I’m looking for, as it isn’t monotonous, it is a lovely steady background to a summer day or evening.

Today it is raining … again. I can’t complain! This time last year we were in an awful drought that killed many of my tender plants and two of my hardy shrubs! I have the chance today to sit on the porch swing, and thank God for watering our garden with an elixir, a God-given liquid power that cures, improves, and preserves life. He also provides an elixir for anyone who comes to Him for a cure, improvement, and preservation of life eternal!

John 4:14  Easy-to-Read Version
But anyone who drinks the water I give will never be thirsty again. The water I give people will be like a spring flowing inside them. It will bring them eternal life.

Shall We Gather at the River

Author: Robert Lowry  1864

Shall we gather at the river,
Where bright angel feet have trod;
With its crystal tide forever
Flowing by the throne of God?

Refrain:
Yes, we’ll gather at the river,
The beautiful, the beautiful river;
Gather with the saints at the river
That flows by the throne of God.

On the margin of the river,
Washing up its silver spray,
We will walk and worship ever,
All the happy golden day.

Yes, we’ll gather at the river,
The beautiful, the beautiful river;
Gather with the saints at the river
That flows by the throne of God.

Ere we reach the shining river,
Lay we ev’ry burden down;
Grace our spirits will deliver,
And provide a robe and crown.

Yes, we’ll gather at the river,
The beautiful, the beautiful river;
Gather with the saints at the river
That flows by the throne of God.

Soon we’ll reach the shining river,
Soon our pilgrimage will cease;
Soon our happy hearts will quiver
With the melody of peace.
