Red, White, and Blue

She was precious; I first noticed her in line behind me at the coffee counter. I admired her glasses; she designed them she said; I have never heard of someone designing their glasses, but I could see that was exactly what she had done; and they suited her. I could try to describe them, but it would get lost in translation. Rather let me fill you in on the rest of her attire. She was sixty-five, she shared, and had short-cropped white hair, spiked just so. Her skirt was white, she wore a red top and a cute denim jacket; her red keds were topped off with lace bobby socks. On hindsight she was indeed dressed for Memorial Day Weekend. We talked, she shared her husband’s near death experience; she had a booth at the Saturday Market nearby and brought us a sample of her fresh watermelon salsa; she brought it over with flair, delivering it as a waitress and speaking Spanish as she placed it on our table. It was so good we indeed bought some and had it over beans for a salad for lunch today. She was a delight; a soul on fire with life, love, and the joy that only comes from within.

Thank You, Dear Lord, for placing glowing examples of life for me to experience up close and personal. Yes, I recognized the sparks shooting off and around this child of Yours; there was no doubt we were to meet; her message was of joyous survival and delight in the moments we’re all given second by precious second.

Infuse me, Dear Lord, fill me, inspire me, animate me. It is time; my year of mourning my Mother and sister will be completed in a little over a week. Use me, Precious Lord; send me into the world to share; help me tell my story through Your message of victory! A smile, a hug, a kind word, a simple recognition of kindred spirits validates Your Love, Protection, Deliverance, Healing. Thank You; Bless You; All Honor, Glory, and Power are Thine. Amen

Ephesians 3:16-19  The Message
My response is to get down on my knees before the Father, this magnificent Father who parcels out all heaven and earth. I ask him to strengthen you by his Spirit—not a brute strength but a glorious inner strength—that Christ will live in you as you open the door and invite him in. And I ask him that with both feet planted firmly on love, you’ll be able to take in with all followers of Jesus the extravagant dimensions of Christ’s love. Reach out and experience the breadth! Test its length! Plumb the depths! Rise to the heights! Live full lives, full in the fullness of God.

All Creatures of Our God and King
Author: St. Francis of Assisi  1225   Paraphraser: William H. Draper

All creatures of our God and King,
Lift up your voice and with us sing,
Alleluia! Alleluia!
Thou burning sun with golden beam,
Thou silver moon with softer gleam!

Refrain:
O praise Him! O praise Him!
Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!

Thou rushing wind that art so strong,
Ye clouds that sail in heav’n along,
O praise Him! Alleluia!
Thou rising moon, in praise rejoice,
Ye lights of evening, find a voice!

Thou flowing water, pure and clear,
Make music for thy Lord to hear,
O praise Him! Alleluia!
Thou fire so masterful and bright,
That givest man both warmth and light.

And all ye men of tender heart,
Forgiving others, take your part,
O praise Him! Alleluia!
Ye who long pain and sorrow bear,
Praise God and on Him cast your care!

Let all things their Creator bless,
And worship Him in humbleness,
O praise Him! Alleluia!
Praise, praise the Father, praise the Son,
And praise the Spirit, Three in One!
