But … every now and then the only remedy for what ails me, the only hope I’ll survive, is a day all to myself, no company needed thank you very much, to shop, meander, browse, discover, find, buy, or not. Crying, weeping, sobbing, wailing, are all cathartic; but my eye bags can only take so much of that before I have to do something positive so I can be seen in public!
Wouldn’t it be great if retail therapy was covered by health insurance. ~Author Unknown
Pity-party officially over, I took myself out and about; first stop was a massage; healing hands scented with fragrant oils loosen pent-up tensions and help me breathe in healthy energy and exhale poisonous emotional toxins. I float out.
Hello, Rabbit,’ he said, ‘is that you?’
‘Let’s pretend it isn’t,’ said Rabbit, ‘and see what happens.’
— A.A. Milne
My feet took me walking; I happened upon a shoe store. I was treated to an examination of said feet to determine the perfect shoe and size to eliminate injury and provide foot support while playing Pickle Ball. Now I am not sharing the price of the shoes plus the arch insert; suffice it to say it’s better to spend money on a good pair of shoes in order to prevent a trip to the doctor and all that might entail. Convinced? Oh, well, all my other shoes are purchased at half-price or greatly reduced; and I am not a shoe-aholic … so there!
If the shoe fits, buy it in every color! ~Author Unknown
I hit the Wal-Mart next; nothing pleases me more than tooling in and out, around and about the aisles, not knowing what surprising commodity I might spy; purchasing said commodity is neither here nor there. After satisfying my wanderlust, I head for a bite to fuel up for more.
I went to a general store but they wouldn’t let me buy anything specific. ~Steven Wright
Another store I never frequent appears as I pull out of the eating establishment. I find three clothing items I had to buy because they were on such a good sale. Truly, one was only four dollars and forty cents. See, it was meant for me!
Be careless in your dress if you must, but keep a tidy soul. ~Mark Twain
Noticing my fuel tank, my gas fuel tank, which is rarely low … was. Another wonderful feeling is to know that whatever happens, you have a full tank of gas to get you to or away from whatever situation presents itself.
Don’t let people drive you crazy when you know it’s in walking distance. ~Author Unknown
On the way home, I pull into one, then another furniture store. Of course, the first store, and the first sofa I saw and sat upon, is the one that takes my fancy. It is more than on sale, for top grade leather, they are practically giving it away. Taking several pictures of the couch set and the price tag, I head for my car.
The day satisfied, delighted, and distracted me. I am spent-figuratively and literally.
I am having an out of money experience. ~Author Unknown
I don’t know if what I did today was in Your plan for me, God. I just know I had to get out of my head for a while. You know how I am; You know demons can take hold of me; You know coping with these demons is not a full-time job, but I can be haunted and overtaken by these frequent fliers. Thank You that I have the time and freedom to get away for a day or even a part of a day. Refreshed and renewed, I think together we can continue on the paths You would have me follow. My only request is that we stroll awhile longer; wander with me; hold my hand and show me Your Creation that delights as nothing else can. Amen
If you are seeking creative ideas, go out walking. Angels whisper to a man when he goes for a walk. ~Raymond Inmon
Philippians 4:8-9 The Message
Summing it all up, friends, I’d say you’ll do best by filling your minds and meditating on things true, noble, reputable, authentic, compelling, gracious—the best, not the worst; the beautiful, not the ugly; things to praise, not things to curse. Put into practice what you learned from me, what you heard and saw and realized. Do that, and God, who makes everything work together, will work you into his most excellent harmonies.
