Am I My Brother’s Keeper?

Dear Lord, who am I to come to the aid of another? Who am I to tend to the sick? Who am I to think I can help anyone else?

I am a little lost sheep myself; I listen for my Shepherds voice; I look for signs of His coming; I wait, I pray, to be found and brought back into the fold. How might I be able to help anyone else?

If I hear the desperate bleating of another of my brothers or sisters in the distance; do I go to him and together search for deliverance, search for our Shepherd, follow His voice?

Matthew 18:10-12  English Standard Version
“See that you do not despise one of these little ones. For I tell you that in heaven their angels always see the face of my Father who is in heaven. What do you think? If a man has a hundred sheep, and one of them has gone astray, does he not leave the ninety-nine on the mountains and go in search of the one that went astray?

As You seek me; so might You seek two, three, or more gathered in need?

Philippians 2:4  English Standard Version
Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.

I hear You, Lord, telling me to look first to myself, a massive  endeavor in and of itself,  by studying Your Word, keeping our daily conversations a priority, and following Your Lead-knowing Your Plan is THE PLAN and the ONLY PLAN.

Ephesians 4:32  English Standard Version
Be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.

Kindness, tender-hearted-ness, forgiveness, is the only way to approach others. Judgement is Thine; compassion and love my tools.

John 13:34-35  English Standard Version
A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

I hear that; love, love, love all others. Let my love exhibit discipleship; discipleship of You, my Lord and Savior.

1 John 3:17-18  English Standard Version
But if anyone has the world’s goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does God’s love abide in him? Little children, let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth.

Lord, I have heard the phrase talk the talk and walk the walk; but do I? I try, learning Your Ways my goal. Your Truth not mine; Your Word not mine; Your works not mine; I pray I cease to insist on My Way-a tall challenge for me; but one I seek, with Your Help.

1 Peter 5:7  English Standard Version
Casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.

You care for me, Dear Lord; You love me, Dear Lord; I am not the only sheep in Your pasture; help me to be mindful and humble in my walk with You.

Isaiah 41:10  English Standard Version
Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

How many times, Dear Lord, do You remind us all to “Fear Not!” Yet, fear is the guiding force behind so many of my thoughts and actions. Is that why You repeat this phrase so many times? May it become embedded in my heart, mind, and soul. Oh my, what a revelation, if my research is correct the phrase, “Fear Not!” is found 365 times, one for every day of the year! I stand in amazement, awe, and tremendous humbleness. You, Dear Lord, want me, want Your children to have no fear! Heavenly Father, You are indeed the loving, caring, protective FATHER of us ALL!

Philippians 4:6-8  English Standard Version
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.

Pray, give thanks, ask, and Your Peace will reign in my heart, mind, and soul. Think on Your Truth, Your Kingdom’s Providence, Your Magnificent Creation’s example of purity and loveliness, and understand with my entire being how Worthy You are of ALL Praise and Honor!

Proverbs 3:5-6  English Standard Version
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.

Trust You, Dear Lord-enough said!

James 5:15  English Standard Version
And the prayer of faith will save the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven.

You Lord, are the ONLY one who has the power to raise; You are the ONLY one who has the power to forgive through the sacrifice and death of Jesus Christ Your ONLY son.

Romans 8:26  English Standard Version
Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words.

I know, You know how many times the Holy Spirit has prayed for me when I had no idea I needed prayer. You know how many times You, Dear Lord, have comforted me when all seemed lost and doomed forever. You alone know me so deeply-You alone.

Isaiah 41:13  English Standard Version
For I, the Lord your God, hold your right hand; it is I who say to you, “Fear not, I am the one who helps you.”

Dear Heavenly Father, hold my hand, never let go, I need You, even when I seem far away, Your hand is reaching towards me; I am blessed beyond measure to be considered Your child.

Hebrews 11:6  English Standard Version
And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.

What is Faith?

The fundamental fact of existence is that this trust in God, this faith, is the firm foundation under everything that makes life worth living. It’s our handle on what we can’t see.  Hebrews 11:1  The Message

Great Is Thy Faithfulness

Words: Thomas O. Chisholm  1923
Music: William M. Runyan

Great is Thy faithfulness, O God my Father;
there is no shadow of turning with Thee;
Thou changest not, Thy compassions, they fail not;
as Thou hast been Thou forever will be.

Refrain:
Great is Thy faithfulness! Great is Thy faithfulness!
Morning by morning new mercies I see;
all I have needed Thy hand hath provided;
great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me!

Summer and winter and springtime and harvest,
sun, moon and stars in their courses above
join with all nature in manifold witness
to Thy great faithfulness, mercy and love. Refrain

Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth
Thy own dear presence to cheer and to guide;
strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow,
blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside! Refrain
