Keep Me Out of Your Way, Lord!

I know he’s reading this, but, I hope he’ll forgive me. My sister passed away in June of 2016 of peritoneal ovarian cancer. Her husband, children, and his mother were devoted to her care. I couldn’t have asked for a better place for my baby sister to be than with her precious children and her loving husband. Caregiving takes its toll. Our family has survived four deaths in five years. Three suffered and lost their battles with cancer; one passed quietly of old age at one hundred one.

As families do, each new husband and wife break off from the initial family unit to create family units of their own; as it should be. I regret not knowing my sisters’ families better. But one person that knew them well told me before she died; stay there; be with him; bring him back out into the world; he won’t want to, but do it for me. I haven’t until recently had many chances to do that. We all went to our own special corners and grieved privately. I felt I had let her down. But, it is happening; each feeling; each nuance  of emotion has been explored, examined, exhibited. He needed time, we all needed time to process, heal, and find some sense of peace. I am so very grateful that now I can try to do more for and with him and their family. We will never forget nor should we forget the amazing woman Anne was and still is-in spirit. Together we will continue to hold each other up and allow the grieving process to take us individually to a place where we can know the comfort and joy of the memories no one can take from us.

Dear Lord, thank you for keeping me out-of-Your-way. You know I want to go into a situation and fix it. I couldn’t fix this. I guess the shock of that knowledge plus my own grief helped hold me back. Heavenly Father, I am grateful that my husband and I are retired and can care for others within our flexible lifestyle. It makes such a difference. I thank you for Spring’s promise of renewed life. Losing my father, grandmother, mother, and sister within five short years has kept me at death’s door. There is a time for that; there is also a time for living joyfully. Praise to You, Dear Father, for bringing my family through this dark period into Your Love Light. You are with us; our loved ones are with You; so we are ALL together in Love and Truth! Amen

Isaiah 42:16   Gods’s Word Translation

I will lead the blind on unfamiliar roads.
I will lead them on unfamiliar paths.
I will turn darkness into light in front of them.
I will make rough places smooth.
These are the things I will do for them,
and I will never abandon them.

Psalm 32:8  God’s Word Translation   The Lord says, “I will instruct you. I will teach you the way that you should go. I will advise you as my eyes watch over you.”

Proverbs 24:14  New Living Translation  In the same way, wisdom is sweet to your soul. If you find it, you will have a bright future, and your hopes will not be cut short.

Isaiah 58:11  New Living Translation  The Lord will guide you continually, giving you water when you are dry and restoring your strength. You will be like a well-watered garden, like an ever-flowing spring.

We have been down; our hearts broken; but we’re still standing, Standing on the Promises of God.

Standing on the Promises
Author: Russell Kelso Carter  1886

Standing on the promises of Christ my king,
through eternal ages let His praises ring;
glory in the highest, I will shout and sing,
standing on the promises of God.

Refrain:
Standing, standing,
standing on the promises of God my Savior;
standing, standing,
I’m standing on the promises of God.

Standing on the promises that cannot fail,
when the howling storms of doubt and fear assail,
by the living Word of God I shall prevail,
standing on the promises of God. [Refrain]

Standing on the promises of Christ the Lord,
bound to Him eternally by love’s strong cord,
overcoming daily with the Spirit’s sword,
standing on the promises of God. [Refrain]

Standing on the promises I cannot fall,
listening every moment to the Spirit’s call,
resting in my Savior as my all in all,
standing on the promises of God. [Refrain]
