Lugging and Dragging and Cleaning and Sweeping and Sorting …

These last few days I have been extremely lazy. I overdid myself at the home place we are trying to sell; I spent every daylight hour there lugging and dragging and cleaning and sweeping and sorting and moving and finding and losing and sanitizing and vacuuming and mopping and reorganizing and thinking and reading and lifting and sifting and remembering. End result, I re-injured my lower right back. So, since I’ve been home I’ve been sitting and writing and sleeping and nodding and hurting and snacking and soaking and playing Pickleball when I definitely shouldn’t have. I’m paying the price.

My first night back home I was awakened at 1 am by the dragging and scraping and backing and beeping and wailing and screaming at the nearby local law enforcement center. I have no idea what all that was, but luckily I drug myself downstairs and was able to go back to sleep on the couch.

Last night, my husband and I were watching television when descending upon our home came the most frightening roar-like the sound of a train, as they say. We immediately jumped up and ran to the front door. We were in the middle of a vicious storm swooping upon us at over fifty miles an hour. The night sky flashed like a strobe light; thunder crashed; wind gusts shook the house; hail slammed into us on either side; remnants of the storm’s damage lay amidst the glimmering mounds of hail.

Heading to bed last night we hoped the worst had passed. It had.

March rushed in like a lion. It most definitely did!

Spring will officially arrive on March twentieth. Way before then, I pray I will have a spring back in my step!

Dear Lord, all the best laid plans of mine are totally altered by physical and natural occurrences. Help me to ride through these outer storms as well as inner storms with grace and assurance that You are in control; You have plans for me; following Your plans supersedes all others; You have only GOOD as the ultimate outcome.

Thank You, Dear Lord, that I run out of steam long enough to be still and know that You are God-not me. Mine is not the mission to do and be all things to all people. Sometimes my only mission is to care for myself; My well-being is of utmost importance to You and the work You have planned for me. I rest in Your arms and am still; there is no better balm for my body, soul, and spirit! Amen

I can guarantee this truth: This is what will be done for someone who doesn’t doubt but believes what he says will happen: He can say to this mountain, ‘Be uprooted and thrown into the sea,’ and it will be done for him.  Mark 11:23  God’s Word Translation

I say this because I know what I have planned for you,” says the Lord. “I have good plans for you. I don’t plan to hurt you. I plan to give you hope and a good future. Then you will call my name. You will come to me and pray to me. And I will listen to you. You will search for me. And when you search for me with all your heart, you will find me!  Jeremiah 29:11-13   International Children’s Bible

Leaning On The Everlasting Arms

Text: Elisha A. Hoffman  1887

Music: Anthony J. Showalter

What a fellowship, what a joy divine,
leaning on the everlasting arms;
what a blessedness, what a peace is mine,
leaning on the everlasting arms.

Refrain:
Leaning, leaning,
safe and secure from all alarms;
leaning, leaning,
leaning on the everlasting arms.

O how sweet to walk in this pilgrim way,
leaning on the everlasting arms;
O how bright the path grows from day-to-day,
leaning on the everlasting arms. [Refrain]

What have I to dread, what have I to fear,
leaning on the everlasting arms?
I have blessed peace with my Lord so near,
leaning on the everlasting arms. [Refrain]
