Hide Out

Hideout

In the early morning hours,

day light, you tease me

with streaks of pinks, blues, and purple hues.

My shoulders wrapped in my favorite blanket

warm me.

From my cup I drink dawn’s announcement;

slumber’s sweet respite is over.

I hide out as long as I can

enjoying my solitude.

Birdsong assuring me all is well.

I need not hide out any longer.
