Happy Hearts Day !

Today my heart beats happier on this Valentine’s Day! I celebrate those I love now, in the past, and with the hope of loving into eternity! I thank You, Dear Lord, for all those Sweet Hearts that have befriended, loved me. I thank You, Dear Lord, for all those Sweet Hearts I’ve seen tending the sick, caring for a child, reaching out with hugs of comfort, holding the hand that needs reassurance, talking with those who are frequently ignored, listening to stories told over and over; grateful I am for those stories etched into my memory to treasure and pull out to savor again.

Love is a word so often used and abused, I think. “I love you,” has been shortened, abbreviated, said, written, sung, flung about, reducing the meaning and trivializing its impact. Why? Why have we all taken love, Your Love, You, Dear Lord, and tossed it about-and out? I don’t know. Love is deep, abiding, faith-filled trust. Love is a verb, I think, that is evidenced in action for and with another. Do we even recognize true love in action? More importantly, do we love deeply; do we love mind, body, soul, and spirit? Do we? Do I?

Love, an ongoing action, is a gift You, Heavenly Father, give freely every moment, every breath, every heartbeat. You, Master Teacher, show Love in everything you do, have done, and promise to do for Your children. All it takes to witness-to experience-Your Love in action is an open heart, mind, body, and spirit.

Your daily gifts of Love: cotton candy skies of early dawn, birdsong, whisspering breezes, sun’s first rays spreading light, spreading warmth, coffee beans, bacon sizzling, the blessing of work, hands that can work, minds that understand the importance of work and rest, chance meetings, conversations shared, problems averted, problems converted, passage of time measured by daylight into twilight, moonlight, starlight, bringing comfort through the night, a loving heart to have and to hold through nights, days, weeks, months, years, and into eternity.

Thank You, Dear Lord, for Valentine’s sent from our very first breath, to the last sigh of release. Your Heart meets my heart where I am; I am blessed; I am treasured; I am adored; I am loved.

Bless You, Heavenly Father, You make my heart beat happy and strong!  I love you, Jan

We love because He first loved us.  1 John 4:19

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 1 Corinthians 13:4-5

Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you. Show me the way I should go, for to you I entrust my life.  Psalms 143:8

Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart. Then you will win favor and a good name in the sight of God and man.  Proverbs 3:3-4

And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them. 1 John 4:16

And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.  1 Corinthians 13:13

Come, Let Us Sing of a Wonderful Love

Words: Robert Walmsley  (1831-1905)
Music: Adam Watson (1845-1912)
Come, let us sing of a wonderful love,

Tender and true, tender and true,
Out of the heart of the Father above,
Streaming to me and to you:
Wonderful love, wonderful love,
Dwells in the heart of the Father above.

Jesus the Savior this Gospel to tell
Joyfully came, joyfully came,
Came with the helpless and hopeless to dwell,
Sharing their sorrow and shame:
Seeking the lost, seeking the lost,
Saving, redeeming at measureless cost.

Jesus is seeking the wanderers yet;
Why do they roam? Why do they roam?
Love only waits to forgive and forget;
Home, weary wanderers, home!
Wonderful love, wonderful love,
Dwells in the heart of the Father above.

Come to my heart, O thou wonderful love!
Come and abide, come and abide,
Lifting my life till it rises above
Envy and falsehood and pride:
Seeking to be, seeking to be,
Lowly and humble, a learner of Thee.
