And They Danced

I caught them out of my peripheral vision. From the upstairs window I gaze upon them. Fascinated by the popularity of our feeder, I find myself on our stone patio with my binoculars, so as to see every seed, beak, feather, and claw. When inside the house, I check the window in our den to check out the action. A whole new world of cheeps and chirps, wings and feathers, hops and flits, has opened to me.

It was a vision so brief, so ecstatic, so joyful, so free, I think back and wonder if it was real, or a mere manifestation of some animated Disney film I saw in my childhood. But no, it was real, it was true, it was rejoicing in action as uplifting as it was humbling. They were dancing!

Provisions beyond their own efforts were displayed; abundant quantities were put there for the taking; water and sustenance within easy reach of every claw and beak; thanksgiving reined.

Dear Lord, my every need is provided. I am blessed! My food, clothing, and shelter far surpass my needs. I am blessed! Most every want is mine to have and to hold. I am blessed! Work suited to my talents is offered to me; my hands, heart, mind, and soul are blessed to fulfill worldly duties as well as provide opportunities to share what You have done with my life for Your Glory. I am blessed. My husband, my partner in life, is a friend like no other; he supports me and challenges me to find the best in myself. Forgive me, Dear Lord, when I gripe and grouse about this and that disappointment. Help me to see more of Your gifts You have freely given to such a one as me. I thank You for sticking by me even when I let go of Your hand and wander from the paths You would have me follow.

And above all, Dear Lord, remind me to dance!

Psalms 150:4  Praise Him with the tambourine and dance: praise Him with stringed instruments and organs.

Ecclesiastes 3:4  A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance.

Job 21:11  They send out their little boys like a flock, and their children dance.

Psalm 100: 1-5  Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth!  Serve the Lord with gladness!  Come into His presence with singing!  Know that the Lord, He is God!  It is He who made us, and we are His; we are His people, and the sheep of His pasture.  Enter His gates with thanksgiving, and His courts with praise! Give thanks to Him; bless His name!  For the Lord is good; His steadfast love endures forever, and His faithfulness to all generations.

Proverbs 8:30  Then I was beside Him, like a master workman, and I was daily His delight, rejoicing before Him always.

Philippians 4:19  And my God will supply every need of yours according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.

Psalm 23:1  The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
